The SEWTA Regional Transport Plan

Consultation on the Draft Regional Transport Plan has now closed.

Sewta is currently working on its Final Draft Regional Transport Plan, due to be submitted to the Welsh Assembly Government before 31 December 2008. We plan to publish the Final Draft Regional Transport Plan in January 2009, together with updated Appraisal and a Public Participation Statements. The Public Participation Statement will contain a list of organisations and individuals that have responded to the RTP consultation, their comments and Sewta’s response to those comments.

The SEWTA RTP Strategic Environmental Assessment Environment Report

It is a statutory requirement that the RTP be subject to a Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) under the SEA Regulations for Wales, 'Environmental Assessment of Plans and Programmes (Wales) Regulations 2004', Welsh Statutory Instrument No. 1656 (W.170). The SEA Regulations reflect the European Union's SEA Directive 2001/41/EC 'On the Assessment of the Effects of Certain Plans and Programmes on the Environment'.

The Environmental Report identifies, describes and evaluates the likely significant effects on the environment of implementing the RTP, taking into account the objectives and the geographical scope of the strategy. Consultation on the Environmental Report has now closed, and Sewta is looking into the received comments.
