The Brynmawr Urban Route provides a network of links between a number of separate projects including the Brynmawr bus station improvement, the Nantyglo Safe Routes to School scheme and the National Cycle Network. The network delivers new routes, connects existing routes and enhances pedestrian and cyclist links to facilities in Brynmawr town centre.
The routes have created direct links reconnecting the major urban residential areas to the east and west of Brynmawr to the town centre, as well as creating potential future linkages to important tourism areas such as the Blaenavon World Heritage Site and the Brecon Beacons National Park.
Nantyglo Safe Routes to School
The Nantyglo Safe Routes to School scheme consisted of upgrading the fooway adjacent to the A467 to accomodate shared use, and linking this to Nantyglo Comprehensive and an upgrade of the existing link through the school (a Public Right Of Way) to an exisiting cycle route at Warwick Road.
